Eye mutation

Why mate her when there are more perfectly healthy females out there?

Unless you are looking for a "shocked look" chameleon..

Well, I personally would. I wouldn't sell/give away any of the offspring though, and I would be prepared to cull them if needed. I would be just too darn curious about the genetic aspect to not breed her. I suppose you could inbreed her to further attempt to figure out the genetics.

That mutation makes her look like a whole different type of lizard haha! You know, I would... It could be a new morph! It doesn't affect her negatively and it looks cool(which is really the whole reason for morphs) so what's there to loose? If you have enough people interested in crazy eyed chameleons lol.

well she'll probably looked shocked or scared all the time aha
IMHO i think she is adorable i would probably buy her if i saw her in a petstore because she is different

but she sleeps with her eyes open, i dont htink its comfortable and i bet it took awhile to master the way of sleeping without closing eyes...

i rather not breed her, though if you want you can try but not inbreed her like Pssh suggested, i rather go normally and see how strong/weak is the genetic and if it only passes along through certain conditions

she is a cute lil weirdo

Yeah, I think that there's a million things that could have made the eye that way so it is not necessarily genetic. There are tons of other females out there but you have her already and you like her so I still say go for it!

For some reason my computer wouldn't load the pictures, but I think as long as the eyes are able to close and not dry out...along with the fact that your cham is able to hunt and eat, he should be ok. I have an adult one eyed panther I rescued and she is doing great. With her it was a matter of adapting to the condition.

Yes, I had to free up some picture space, so pictures may have been removed. Here's most current picture of her with shed. I caught a glimpse of her the other night, and it's a eerie thing to see a chameleon sleeping with the eye open. Like a contestant in a ugly dog contest.

Does she have any issues with depth perception or focusing on prey items? Just wondered if the eye issue affected her in any way physically or if its just an appearance thing.

I dont know if I'd breed her or not? I think thats something you'll have to decide.

I want to see more.
May I can bring to the meeting next week.

No problem with feeding /seeing. Just physically missing part of skin on eye turrets. Not fully developed at time hatched.

So, after hunting for 5 minutes I found her the other night. It's just her left eye that is open 24/7. I noticed she's able to close right eye to sleep.

Poor girl. Sorry if I missed it but are you providing higher humidity or extra waterings to help keep the eye moist?
