Eye problem slowly killing my Cam

Hi, my son veiled chameleon is about 9 months old and for the past 3 months hes had swollen eye lids towards the front of the eye. We took him to the reptile vets whos 1st answer was anti inflamatories which did nothing and his eyes totally closed, next visit i told them its do or die time so get it right, we got metacham (i think) oral anti biotics and eye drops, told to give vitamin a-e suplements, keep giving him calcium 3 times a week and d once a month. We were feeding him 6 locusts daily and various worms once a week. hes in a big 60x45x90 glas cage with plenty of foliage, uvb strip light and normal in canopy, we now have 2 100 watt red heat lamps to keep temp up to 80, humidity ranges from 50-80. all lights go off after 12 hours and hes kept in the dining room so night temp is quite good.
After 2 months of us treating and hand feeding and bathing him we managed to get left eye slightly open which he does now and again, right eye usualy opens when we bath him but closes soon after, he does get puss ocasionally which we wipe away but his eyes are still swollen left at front right all over but he sits there inactive most days, others hes moving all over but hes not catching any food anymore.
Ive looked on so many websites and blogs but eyes seem to be a constant problem with no clear answers. weve even cleared out everything in his cage and cleaned and replace bark substright with frog moss but it stil wont clear. I think ive given you all info just looking for ideas, cheers Bill.
