eye problem

Hey guys,
so, let mel describe my problem. I have yemen chamelon, he is about 2,5 yo. Everything was is perfect, but few months ago, his eye has started to swell and some kind of sticky liquid runnig out of his eye. He has some pouch under his eye. I dont what it is, or what it caused. Im wiping his eye 2-3 times per week, but the liquid is still runnig out and pouch ad swell is still there.

Can some help me with this problem? I will be very thankfull for any advices.

He needs to see a vet. It is most likely an infection and will not get better without going to the vet for medication.

Hello, not trying to be rude, but i cant believe anyone out there already went through this and might give us some advice before going to the vet.

Sanababit...There isn't too much that can be done before you decide to see a vet when it comes to eye issues...other than mist the eye or shower it to see if it's just something stuck in it.

Eye issues can be due to infection in the eye or a sinus infection, something stuck in it, the tear ducts could be plugged, there could be a vitamin issue or even cancer. How can we tell by looking at it?? That's why we almost always say take it to the vet.

during this week i going to visit a vet. so i will update whats going on with my cham. i guess its just some kind of infection which will be quickly cured. i dont have experiences with this problem, my chams are heatlhy and full of energy, so my only option is to visit a vet.
Cancer? i hope it wont be

Yea, unfortunately there isn't much else to do. It looks to be infected and probably need to be treated with medications that cannot be obtained without a vet.

Try to see a vet asap. Can he see through the affected eye? Try putting food or something on one side of his head at a time and see if he reacts to it. Whenever there is swelling and discharge, it usually points to infection(at least in humans). He will most likely need an antibiotic. Meanwhile, try to find out what might have caused this. Could it be that there is something harbouring bacteria in the cage or vines? You can give the whole cage a wipe down with vinegar diluted with water.

hi everyone,
yesterday i was at vet, he gave me antibiotics for 1 week and recommended me to cleaning his eye with chamomile tea 2x per day. Vet could only hard identified what infection causes. But he guess, that something has stuck (some little piece of dust, water drop with dirt or something like that) in his eye, and so it is still producing this sticky liquid.
His eye is fully working, but it seems, that cant see everything through it, but food can easily catch.

I hope, the infection soon disappears

I'm not sure that only 7 days of antibiotics will be long enough.
My vet has always prescribed at least 14 days of antibiotics because chams heal slowly.

That is a very interesting use of chamomile tea.
I did some online searching and found that it is sometimes used to treat eye infections.

I've heard of camomile tea being used as a sort of natural antibacterial on other lizards such as geckos. I have only used it on a Female Veild that I free ranged outside and got attacked by a bird. It did seem like it helped but, I can't say for sure.
