Eyelid bubble/swollen eye

Got a new homie I’ve had him for about a month now. I got him from the pet store with what I thought was extra skin on his eye turns out it may be swollen. Didn’t think much of it till this morning when I was misting his cage it looked like he was having trouble opening it or keeping it open. He was still in his sleep position but his other normal eye was open so maybe he was still sleepy?

The pictures are from this morning shortly after I noticed his eye. This is how I’m used to seeing him it looks fully open. Any idea what this is and what I can do to fix it also how severe is this problem

This will need to be looked at by a vet. You can also try to increase mistings and see if he can "wash" the eye out. Also you may want to increase vitamin A/multi vitamin if your supplement schedule is lacking. Also you may want to get all of your husbandry reviewed on here as it looks like you have the chameleon kit which unfortunately is not sufficient.

So I would like to know firstly what supplements you are using and what is the rotation? You can see this when there is over supplementation but also when there is an infection. So if supplements are on point then a reptile vet is needed.

Did as you and many others suggested and took him to the vet they gave me some eye drops for inflammation and bacteria. They also flushed his bad eye with a saline solution which helped clear out his peeper. On top of this they gave me 7 syringes to give him every other day for his respiratory infection.

This is him today full recovery no more wheezing/ gaping for air and he can now fully open and articulate his bad eye

That is great but what your seeing with that eye can also be linked to improper supplementation. The RI can be linked to improper husbandry. Going over these things when we ask you questions is to ensure there are not ongoing issues. The black vine in your cage for example should not be used with chameleons. The coating can rub off into the eyes when they rub their face against them.

this is what I’m using. I hand mist 2x a day once in the morning before lights on and once before lights off. I use the reptical for most feeds and the reptivite is used at least once every other week. Lights come on at 8:00am and go off at 8:00pm

Ok pull the T5 more to the middle of the cage. Then make sure it is a measured distance of 8-9 inches to the branches below it. UVB is not like other lights. Just because it seems bright in an area does not mean UVB is there. It does not spread far from the location of the fixture and reduces drastically as you move away from it down and even to the sides.

Reptivite with D3 would only be used every other week say the 1st and the 15th. This one has fat soluble vitamins which can cause major issues if it is over used. Reptical without D3 would be used at all other feedings.

If that window gets direct sun it could be a major issue. This will drastically raise temps during the day. Also some chams will go to where the light is from the window rather to where their UVB is.

I would replace all of the jungle vines (black coated vines) with something like Flukers vines if your going to use fake vines. These are the only ones that do not seem to cause issues with chameleons.

You will need to upgrade cage size but I am sure you already know that. Adding more plants is really beneficial for them as well.
