family forever

well i wasn't talking about smuggling i was wondering if there was a way to legally ship them over plane. Like when my friend came home from germany for christmas would there be a way he could pick one up and bring it back with him on the plane. All the wc chameleon's get to america from madagascar etc. so I was just wondering if it was possible to get one from germany to america

Just want to let you know you are approaching a very touchy subject.

It is called smuggling and it is against the law...

Don't say what you don't know, i don't make smuggling, because i buy my chameleon to a man like me who have oofspring. in germany i juste need to do a transfer certicate to buy a chameleon. but in france you just maintain pardalis, jacksoni and veild chameleon, if not you must have a certificate of competence, and it's very difficult to have it.

I make chameleon since more 10 years, i i have the competences to pass the certificate of competence, but not the time, and to pass it you must depost a file and wait 2 years to pass it. ( i don't have time)
and parsoni is for me the best chameleon.

so i against te law but not smuggling.

I think it's impossible for you or your friend not to be against the law

I was not talking to you...I was not even reffering to you...
Rocky asked about getting them into the united states from other countries... I don't know about your animals, where they came from, or how you acquired them...Therefore I did not make any comments to you...

I also edit that statement immediately, as I didn't want to make it sound like Rocky was intending to break the law... He asked a question. Relax...I think you missunderstood..That comment was not directed at you.

Rocky - Getting chameleons from Germany and bringing them to the US is not nearly as easy as you might think. C. parsonii are listed on CITES appendix II and further protected by a complete ban on their export from Madagascar since 1995. In order to transport them to the US from the EU, you would need to apply for CITES permits which is very time consuming and can be quite difficult. You need to be able to show that the animals are captive bred or were otherwise legally acquired themselves by providing copies of their original CITES import permits. You then need to ship them with an actually airline shipper that deals with reptiles (very expensive) and when they land in the US, they have to be inspected by FWS at particular airports. The bottom line is that it is very difficult, very expensive and not practical for the vast majority of people to do. Most sellers aren't willing to go through the process either.

Pardaforever - Very nice animals. I'd love to see photos of the yellow lip father if you happen to have any. My female parsonii is supposedly a yellow lip but finding yellow lip males is almost impossible here in the US.

Chris

ya i was just wondering if it was possible to bring something like that back from germany. I read a while back that people across the pond were getting them for 2-300 dollars and that they were more successful at breeding them so I was just curious if there was a way to fill out a form or something for him to bring it back with him.

edit: thanks chris that answered my question completely :p

It's more expensive than you think (600-700 § for a baby, 2000§ for a big male)

that daddy is sexy. Ya i'd like one eventually, but 2000+ for a baby is a bit steep for me. Maybe one of these days when i become president or something :p
