Fan for Airflow?

Since I am not making a window in the back, just the front and sides, should I mount a small fan on top for better airflow and ventilation, or will the convection created by the heat be enough? I have a ceiling fan in the same room I could utilize as well.

the front and sides will be plenty of air. I would say as long as the top and 2 sides maybe even 1 have air flow you will be fine. I wouldnt worry about it.

i have always heard, no fans, do not put them near vents, or any kind of constant moving air. You want ventilation, not moving air...and a fan might make it too cold as well

Yeah three sides screen and top screen should be fine. Just monitor your temps before you get your cham. Setup your lights and digital therm/hygrom and get baseline temps for your basking spot and then move the gauge to the opposite side of cage and you will get an idea of the thermal gradient. I got my therm from lowes for like 12 bux. Its prob a good idea for you to have a solid back anyway since you live in Arizona. I bet your humidity there is almost nil. So that will help keep the hum in the cage.

Just so everyone knows, the fans should be used to draw air out of the enclosure, not blow air into one. You should be fine with three sides and the top.

Fans shouldn't really be used.... but it isn't really that bad. they do have wind in the wild ya know... lol. in my cham room I have a fan that sits on the floor blowing straight up so that the air is always moving. it is a small fan and isn't blowing onto any chams. BUT if you have a really hot ceiling area, try the fan on the floor or a ceiling fan. this will help blend the air.
