FAT Veiled??????????

My female is about 9 months old and it seems like shes getting fat. She eats all her food, usually about 15 crickets a day

Just wanted to know if anyone else has this issue.

has she been mated? if not she could be carrying unfertile eggs which still must be laid.

No she hasnt. I bought her when she was 6 months and she has grown alot. Shes always been healthy and looks great but it just seems like shes too fat. Maybe too much food????????????

she will still develop eggs they just wont be fetile.

well so she knows it there go ahead and place a pot with dirt in it inside of her cage. now im not 100% sure what kind of dirt yo use, but you CANT use builders sand. u know the stuff used in playgrounds and around volleyball nets. let me check real quick.

i would wait those eggs(if gravid) might not be able to be fertilized.

you don't need to mate her... but you do need to start providing a pail of soil or wet sand for her to dig and lay her unfertile eggs.
I'm not proficient enough in caring for a female chameleon. search the forums. there are millions and millions thread about this.

here is an old reply that might help.

I'd recommend you get a larger laying container ready for her. I'd get one at least a foot deep with your sand/soil mixture. What I use is a very large pot with a ficus planted in the middle of it and then filled with my sand/peat mixture. Also, make sure you leave her alone. If she sees you at all, she will probably stop with the hole shes digging and dig another because she thinks the spot isn't safe anymore.

it needs to be able to hold the shape while being dig.
she is gonna make a tiny cave to lay her eggs.

oh another thing you need to get a egg laying spotin there ASAP. Im not sure how much homework you have done, but females that dont lay their eggs can become eggbound and die. dont fret tho just get it in their soon.

I just want to get these eggs out so she's ok. It looks painful
