That is necessary for many people to enter due to file size limitations.

I agree with Chris' thoughts, of over-saturation of the colors. I believe the rules are currently set to represent the animals as naturally as possible. This setting, IMO, takes away from that.

I sent in my pic in hopes of the gift certificate. I've spent 700 dollars already on my first cham, and I still need to buy his adult cage >_< Baby Fry has got me broke. I used photoshop to resize my picture because its so easy, but I didnt alter the picture in any way. I hope that doesnt disqualify me :(

It's all good Brad does a great job of deleting the ones that don't meet the requirements.

Brad,

Cameras are becoming more and more like computers with their settings...so I vote no saturation on pics (yea artists do it to make it look better, but they are doing it to sell the pics).

Chris

So if i go into photoshop and go to
image -->
adjustments-->
levels

and correct the red, green, blue.

My image will be disqualified?

The entry deadline has passed. We received over 55 entries this month, possibly our largest entry count to date.

Voting will begin Tuesday.

:eek:

Limited time and a high entry count has forced me to offer 19 finalists this month. Next month will return to the normal 12-15 entries.

Oh noes

i was in love with that pic! it was my computer wallpaper and ppl asked: are you like, a pro photographer? or: i doubt that pic is yours

but i guess the background wasnt that clear:(:mad::(:mad::eek::mad:

Leo didnt make it AGAIN.:( What are the things looked for? I know husbandry and all that, I can read.. But I mean, why do some make it and not others? I saw the entries before being dwindled down and while Im not saying mine was any better, a few that are NOT up there were really good.. I know it says that the same species cant win more than twice a year (I think thats right) so that influences which are chosen? And what does species mean, like basic? Veiled, panther, pygmy, ect? Or do you get into more specifics, like the types of Panthers?

Lily didn't make it either.:( I think that it means that a certain cham belonging to one owner cannot win more then twice in a year. I know if you win one month's you have to sit out of the next. I agree with you BlackBetty - it would be nice to know what is looked for in a photo. Lily's photo had no background to detract from her, so I'm a bit confused too!

Leos pic wasnt great by any means, so Im not surprised, but i know people int he past have said that their point and click cameras have won, so I know its not all about the quality.. I read the rules, but Im still wondering if personal taste perhaps plays a part? Who decides what pics are chosen, Brad alone? They are all great, but there are some that _I_ thought deserved to be up there moreso than others due to their quality, creativity, and uniqueness. :)

Sorry Lily, You are a winner in my book! :)

This is Brad's forum. He puts in a ton of his own time to keep it running as awesome as it does. This is always a sore spot in the monthly competition, when people's photos don't make the final voting round.

Solely based on our numbers on these boards..we have to keep the final count down to a minimum. Otherwise, everyone would enter, vote for their own photo and we wouldn't have any winners.

When I first started dabbling in photography and submitting my cham photos to this contest, I had some of my photos weeded out in the first round, and all I wanted to know was why?

I'm not Brad - so I can't tell you for sure, but I'm willing to critique anyone's photos if you want to send them to me. I'm pretty sure I could identify the weak area of your photo if any of you want to improve.

There is always a bit of personal taste involved. That's unavoidable folks. Art is not math.

Miss Lily, according to my notes your photo lost points because of visible compression artifacts. This is a common problem among contest entries. The lack of background also contributed to your final ranking but was not the determining factor.

Congrats Sancho. With any luck, you will win and earn something back for that nasty bite she gave ya.:) She owes you. LOL!

They are all great pics guys. Congrats to finalists! I bet it is hard to decide.

Ps, I meant nothing against Brad. I was just asking if he was the sole decider in what made it or if mods got to decide too. Just wondering about the process! :)

Ya that's when she acts all innocent! She looked like that right before she made my finger a shredded mess. :(
