Fecal Float Pics

Just watched this video to get an idea of what to look for...


It looks like, in the first and second pics, that there may be some parasite ova. But I am not a vet so I would say get a fecal test done by a vet. Better to err on the side of caution.

Could be a worm, and could also be a pseudo parasite. The fact that you’re seeing one per slide and few ova, suggests very low level infection.

That’s what I was thinking. Should I do anything or just do another fecal in a month or so to make sure they haven’t gotten worse?

In these pictures, those look like ova to me. Definitely could be wrong.

I don’t know of any preventative meds like you mention. Fenbendazole (panacur) is the usual treatment for worms, but I’d get professional advice before initiating any treatment—prophylactic or otherwise.

Nope, just crystals, which can happen from the fecal solution or just some of the material in the feces or urates forming crystal debris. All harmless.

All of those are crystals in the first few pictures, then a bubble, then debris. No ova/parasites in any of those pictures.

I see the area you're looking at and the shape is right for the ova of a pinworm but not quite completely right, and there should be still some clear space within even with the other material around it and I'm just not seeing the correct shape for that. So it *could* be a pinworm ova buried in there but if that's the only one seen then I wouldn't treat for that low level anyway.

Just to add to this: sugar is sometimes used in float solutions, so sugar crystals are frequently seen.
