Feeder food in the food feeder

Hi all,
I put my girl's crickets in a plastic bin near the bottom of her enclosure each morning before I leave for work. She's then on her own for about 12 hours, and it seems like she munches throughout the day. I gut load the crickets beforehand, but I don't put any food in the bin with them. I'd like to give them a piece of fruit or a slice of sweet potato to keep them loaded and to cut down on attrition, but I'm not sure if that will pose any sort of problem/choking hazzard for a nice-sized juvenile veiled.

If you put in grated carrots, chopped strawberries, etc, it should pose no problem. Veileds will eat greens, fruits and veggies in any case! I'd just make sure that whatever you are offering the feeders is fine for chams to eat, and make sure it's in small enough pieces she won't choke if she decides to nibble on them.

Thanks, MissLissa. I've been wanting to introduce some new foods. This seems like a great way to do it. And I'm sure the tortoises won't mind if I "borrow" a little when I'm prepping their food...
