Hello,

I am aware of dubias meal worms superworms and the like but I would really like to breed something else that is also a good option. Does anyone have any good recommendations? I also have a big colony of shrimp the red cherry shrimp I was wondering if chameleons are able to eat them safely . I know its a strange question lol. Walking sticks? moths? anything interesting?

I wouldn't feed the shrimp. I keep green banana roaches and they are a favorite of my chams and very easy to raise. I also raise bean beetles. They are great for small chameleons. Even for adult panthers they would make a good snack for variety. Blue bottle flies, silkworms, and hornworms are also good alternatives to add to your rotation.

Uh...shoo, I'll take the cherry shrimp if you don't want them THAT bad...:p

I dig the hornworms and the flies. My chammies go bananas for them.

Depends on what I gutload them with too. Regular waxies on commercial gutload, the chammies don't dig that much but if I let them gutload on any sort of berry, the chams seem to like that fruity blast and almost come out of the cage to get to the container I am feeding them from.

Very interesting! Does anyone have personal experience with stick insects as part of a staple foods? They seem to breed moderately fast. What breed would be best suited for this

Thank you. Sometimes tapatalk doesnt send my messages its really weird. I dont know if anyone else has that problem. But I get that messaging problem quite a bit on my Iphone

Placed an order will see how it goes!

Mine love stick bugs. I catch what I can outside and also am growing up some of Nick's. The one wild caught that I bought them for--he's been dealing with parasites and hasn't been the best eater--will never turn down a stick insect and he's eaten some pretty darn big ones.

What type of chameleon do you have and how big were the sticks when you got them? Do they grow fast enough ??

I'm feeding the sticks to two Trioceros quadricornis quadricornis. They were imported in December. That shipment seems to have suffered more than its share of health issues with a high mortality rate it seems. The one that I specifically bought the sticks for weighs 75g now. He's eaten almost full grown pink sticks. It took him some time to get it down--it's body had to be about four inches long. He would have no trouble with full grown Indians if I gave them to him but I've been keeping those to lay eggs. I don't think they take all that long to grow, but I'm probably not caring for them optimally. That quad will also will never turn down a snail. I have a few land snails that I am trying to breed but they are fairly slow growing. Again, I'm not caring for them optimally. He's not fond of crickets or dubias. He might be a better eater if he weren't still suffering from internal parasites.

I decided to order from Nick and I am super impressed with his commitment to making his customers happy! I would highly recommend this person if you're looking to purchase any unique types of feeders like I did!

In all, I ordered a few hundred insects and all was received in a great manner! He's very fast at responding! Thank you once again!
