Feeding a pygmy

Hi I just joined. I've had my first chameleon, a pygmy, for about a week now and had some questions about feeding him. I was considering trying cup feeding him because he doesnt seem to be eating much and i thought maybe he just cant find the crickets. How big of a cup do I use for such a small guy? Hes eaten maybe 3 or 4 crickets since I've had him. I have 1/4 inch crickets and fruit flies but I'm not sure how to feed him the fruit flies because they all just crawl out of the cage. I also heard they can eat small pheonix worms, has anyone had luck with that? Sorry im nervous about this, hes my first chameleon and im used to my blue tongue skink who eats like a monster

Hello, welcome to the forum :) I never kept a pygmy myself but I think most are kept in all-glass enclosures so it's easier to keep it humid and it keeps the tiny insects in nicely. I don't think many people cup feed pygmies. I know phoenix worms would be a good food if he'll eat them.

My pygmies are pigs. Keep a small piece of banana in the cage the fruit flies will sit on the banana. I could never get my guys to cup feed so I just throw crickets in. Second they love blue bottle flies and will snatch them up right away.

Hello, welcome to the forum :) It does often take chameleons a while (maybe 2 weeks) to settle into a new home even if it's a great environment for them. I think pygmies can be some of the more sensitve for this. Hopefully your guy starts eating properly soon.

im soon will own a pygmy soon and ive done a lot of research and i heard handfeeding them pinheads is good way to feed because you will know for sure that they ate and if they miss and hit the bedding or the tank with their tounge it cuases much pain and the bedding will stick to the tongue and they can get impaction
