Feeding Habbits

This is my first chameleon and I've done a lot of reading about his eating habits and what I should/should not feed him. The first two days he seemed uninterested in his food (I didn't have the calcium yet) eating two maybe three but it took him a while before he even tried to catch them. Today is the first day with calcium and he ate 6 crickets and is currently hunting the 7th. My main question (and why I signed up) is can he "over-eat"? I read on one site that he would stop when he was full.. but why eat more then double today then the past two days? Should I just accept this as a sign that he is getting comfortable?

Also I am "dusting" my crickets with calcium by dusting I mean I am putting a few pinches of calcium in a baggie and shaking , they wind up being coated.. is this right?

If he is a still young, which it looks like from you profile picture, I would just let him eat what he wants. While they are young and growing I like to let them eat all they want. When he gets older, 1 yr plus you could start cutting back on the food if you feel he is eating too much at that point as you don't want him to become over weight.

Your bag method is correct. You could use a plastic contain and do the same thing as well.

He is eating more now because he is getting settled in and is more comfortable.

Thanks NHenn, he is only two months old :) I just went to a reptile show in Tinley Park on Sunday. I had plenty of questions for the breeder but I'm glad that I found this forum as making a vet appointment every time I have a question is unreasonable.

Thank you as well CarlC
