Feeding hornworms tomato leaves

Can I feed my hornworms tomato leaves from the garden? I got no food for them and don't want them to die so I'm wondering....

In fact what else can I feed the hornworms besides the hornworm mix.

Tomato Plants - TOXIC! Right?!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but hornworms that have eaten tomato leaves will be toxic to chameleons... and you should NEVER bring in a hornworm that you find on your tomato plants and feed it to your chameleon either...

That's what I have heard anyway...

Yeah, I thought the same, but can't remember the exact details as hornworms are illegal over here! But I do remember reading that tomato plants are toxic.

Tomato plant leaves are toxic to chameleons. You can use the leaves to keep your hornworms alive and then breed from them, but you can't feed them to your cham.

BTW, hornworms will last at least a few days w/o food. You can even cool them in the fridge for about a day to slow down their metabolism until you get food in.

Feeding hornworms tomato leaves makes them toxic. You can feed them tomato fruit or bell pepper fruit, but not the leaves.

ditto

Tomatoe leaves are toxic
bell peppers are a suitable temporary substitute food. They may also eat dandelion leaves, if they are desperate.

Ok guys I got 13 adult horns. I gave them a full tomato 5 hours ago and now it's half gone. Silkies are turtles compared to these machines. Hollycrap.

My chameleons is always opening his mouth for some reason. He's not under the light when he does it so I'm pretty sure he's not overheating. What else could it be?? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

port credit has them?!?!? thats awesome. mouth opening could signify a respritory infection. do you ever notice any sneezing or wheezing? put your cham up to your ear & listen to the breathing. if you hear some gurgling, its either trying to warn you that its getting pissed or it has some respritory issue. i know you said hes nowhere near the light when he does it but is your ac running? whats your temp away from the light?

Ya my ac is running....It has been running for about 2 weeks tho and he only started to open his mouth yesterday.
