Feeding... how do you do it! o:

Hola! Here lately I've decided I want a Male Nosy Faly Panther chameleon and we're probably gonna feed it crickets, but how exactly do you feed him?
I've heard of some cup method and I've heard others just leave crickets in the terrarium/cage for them to roam in so when ever he's hungry he can just eat.. I don't really know much about feeding them, are there recommend ways to feeding them? Appreciate all the help! :D

those would be the two ways. You put a cup in there and suspend it in a way so the chameleon can shoot his tongue down in the cup and eat or let the crickets roam. If he does not eat them all, then they need to be removed before night time.

I personally find "bin feeding" the best....same idea as cup feeding but I use a larger, shallower tub (still high enough so cricks dont jump out) and then suspend vines overhead...

the chams just sit up there pickin guys off all day

I like this way. But it catches water when misting. i'll do it if i am home to monitor it. Water and feeders are not a good combo.

Rite now all my Chams cup feed. Thank God!! lol. I would free range about 2-3 crickets and feed the rest by cup.

I might just do that, It looks really easy to make and easy to do. The only other question I have is how many crickets should a Male panther eat? Is that just something that depends on age or what?

depends on the Cham and the cricket size. But normally for a 3 month old Cham eating 1/4" crickets they will eat about 15 a day.

Mine only eats a couple bugs a day now so I just hand feed. When he was young I cup fed and let out a few at a time in the cage and he would wipe them out right away. Alot of people say to feed 15-20 bugs a day when young but I'm a believer of growing slower to prevent any mbd issues. From 2-6 months old I only fed mine 7-10 a day.

I just hand feed my panther which he prefers, only trouble with free ranging the food is when misting and it can wash the suppliments off the crickets etc

ive always just free ranged em. you just gotta make sure there isnt a bunch of feces in the bottom.

another reason i like the potted plants. i just poke the poop under the surface. free fertilizer :p

The easiest feeding method that I use is hand feeding. Whether I'm feeding crickets, super worms, or silk worms, I always feed some from my hand then I'll always throw some extra in the cage since I work all day and he might get hungry.
