so guys I'm soon getting my chameleon and I'm concerned about feeding her cuz I really don't like to touch crickets or all the other things chameleons eat :( I don't really like insects lol . is it ok to feed her canned or dead insects and every once in a while a live one?:confused::confused:

Nope, it's not OK and most likely the Cham will not eat it. You don't have touch the crickets/feeders. It's not a must. Get a paper roll tube and place it inside whatever you keep the crickets in. They will go inside, then all you have to do is pick it up and shake it till the crickets fall out. You could also use some thing like this: http://www.lllreptile.com/products/18704-exo-terra-cricket-pen-large same idea.

It's best to get used to insects if you're going to keep a Chameleon. They go hand in hand. Tis a fact.

ok thanks that's a great a idea. I'm just idk a little scared I guess, but if people do it then I guess there is nothing to be scared of.

I was in the process of looking for a link to what you posted, spot on! Bugs don't bother me, but I have a keeper similar to what you posted and it does make things easy. The crickets go up the tubes, I shake the tube in a bag so the crickets fall in and then dust and dump the bag into the cham's enclosure. With all that said, I do agree, you should get used/comfortable with bugs if you want to take on a chameleon. Some bugs will get out somehow and you'll be chasing them at some point I'm sure.

Good luck!

I was the same when I got my first cham. Back then, I couldn't even pick up a tub of crickets, let alone open the lid! I wouldn't even pick up mealworms, lol! I bought some long tweezers, and along with putting the livefood in the fridge for a few minutes to slow them down, I managed to feed my cham. It's amazing what you can do when you want something badly enough!

Tweezers, the long kind from the pet store, and paper towel tubes will be your best friends. Seriously though, you'll get used to it quicker than you know.

Thought I share this. I use to consider myself to have arachnophobia and wasn't to keen on insects. I forced myself to put my hands in and get crickets from bins of thousands. This eventually help me get over the fears. Made a difference that transferred to other aspects of life.
