feeding the four horned (male)

Well yeah its thaught their still mid-evolution between fish and reptile.(hence the large dorsal fins(not so on the females)) I know their very jumpy lol

Sorry? Mid-evolution between fish and reptile? It's a joke, right? That's about the most ridiculous claim I've ever heard. Just because penguins swim does not mean they're closely related to fish, and just because leafy sea dragons are adorned with algae-like protuberances does not make them algae-like biologically or evolutionarily speaking.

what the hell was that about?

anyways, neo, are those freeze dried crickets?

Do some research before you start talkin out of term MERUMONTANUS

Um. All right, let's hear your support of this claim using a phylogenetic explanation of the evolution of lizards as it pertains to the evolution of fish. Clearly, you are not interested in learning the truth, and really, the only reason I'm spending time on this thread is to prevent your "flat-earth-like" statement from sparking yet another laughable (and damaging) myth on chameleons.

P.S. Elephants are like birds because they have wing-like ears! Did you watch Dumbo?

while I'm not 100% sure what the chameleon evolved from as I have not had a full course in evolution yet, you can notice that they definitely have a vestigial feature that resembles a fish's fin.(vestigial = something left from ancestors that you dont use anymore like arm pit hair/fingernails)

I welcome all your pictures and info of this guy i think he is awesome :)

my friend sorry, it wont happen again.

Neonate, you are most certainly welcome here-- you have posted great photos of your animals and many are eager to hear your experience with quadricornis. Perhaps I could have been more candid in my initial response, but this kind of misinformation bothers me, especially if the author is not willing to learn.

I want to learn everything i can from you i know you are a well respected reptile lover but i was only going on what i had read elsewhere..

What scene are you from bro?

Ok im sorry for all that ive had a bad day...

Thank you rocky its all true ... i think fabian is a homosexual??

Hehe... I see that my effort to try to maintain this thread as educational as possible has turned into a childish example of bigotry. I was willing to engage in a substantive discussion about a clearly erroneous claim you made, but instead you chose to show your intolerance and that has won you not only infractions on this forum but a total lack of respect from me and others who are here to learn about chameleons.

Fabián, I just read this post and I feel I must say something. Do you actually know anything about evolution? I'm wondering if you are one of those religious idiots that believe god made the earth 6000 years ago.

If you actually did have a clue about evolution you would know that reptiles certainly DID evolve from fish and the idea that some characteristics have yet to fade in the evolutionary course is 100% possible, even 100% likely.

I'm interested to know why exactly you think it is the most ridiculous claim you've ever heard. As far as I know just about every creature living on land is believed to have come from the oceans so please tell me what you found so offensive about someone saying that their lizard has kept some traits from its water loving past.

I see people like you all over the internet and you make me sick. You think you are all balls, the top dog, the alpha male. I just looked at your website and you talk about yourself in the third person, you must be pretty special. In reality all you can do is try to show off on the internet because in real life no one respects you.

You may well be a decent, intelligent and knowledgeable person but the fact of the matter is that you come across as a total prick. Drop the internet tough guy act my man, it doesn't help you one bit.

Whiter,

If you are interested in engaging in an intelligent discussion about the evolution of saurians, I welcome your correspondence, but if you'd rather choose to present your argument with unfounded assumptions about my character or religious affiliations, then I am as interested in perpetuating this conversation as I am in talking to the wall.

Nonetheless, I believe this conversation is of significant importance, and will give you the benefit of the doubt, assuming you're really not the "total prick" you've come across in your post and have merely misunderstood my argument.

You clearly did not read anything about me carefully or I have written in another language, because otherwise you would have understood my background, which is fully founded on science and secular humanism. I have no need to explain myself publicly, but will do so here for the sake of the argument. Not only am I as far from a theologian as you can possibly fathom, but I also find the idea of the coexistence of God and evolution problematic-- but that's for another day and another forum-- which is why I am amused by your assumption that I am somehow one of those "sickening" Bible thumpers.

If you read my posts carefully and truly understand the premise of this argument, you will find that I have never refuted the evolutionary history of chameleons, or any other living organism on this planet. What I have merely done is rejected your (and neonate's) erroneous, mind-boggling, and ridiculous oversimplification of evolutionary theory, which attributes complex traits of adaptation-- such as dorsal crests on chameleons, algae-like protuberances on leafy seadragons and snake-like necks on turtles-- to absurd claims of their direct evolutionary linkage to fish, algae and snakes, respectively.

The problem with your argument lies not in that, without the evolution of fish we wouldn't have land animals, but in your obvious lack of knowledge on the complexity of cladistic models and phylogenetics.

Even IF Chamaeleo (T.) quadricornis were a direct descendant of fish (which is not), it would not mean that a fin-like projection on its tail is proof that it's related to fish because fish have fins and so does the chameleon. What else are you going to tell me next, that Jackson's chameleons are directly related to rhinoceros? This is exactly the kind of argument that gives fuel to the ludicrous creationism argument, and make people like Bush reject evolution based on this idea that we "came from monkeys."

Finally, the reason neonate was given infractions (not by me, but by a forum moderator) is not because he is wrong about evolution, but because he used bigotry and intolerance in his post, so I encourage you to distant yourself from such behavior if you are interested in maintaining this thread open, and your status on this forum intact.

Regards,

Fabián
