feeding veggies?

my chams (2 panthers and a jacksons) will hand feed and over time they seem to think that my fingernail or tip of finger is food. I am sure I could hold up a piece of fruit or veggie and they would eat it. Is this a good Idea and if so what would be the best thing or things to offer? Also moderation and if it would have a different benefit than just feeding them to my insects.

anything green I believe is good for them. I feed mine lettuce sometimes. It's a nice source of rough-age (good for the pooper) =) and has lots of good old H2O! My boyfriend's father feeds his all kinds of fruits and veggies (softened corn, apple pieces, lettuce, collard greens). And his chams are beautiful!

any kind of greens are good. (collard, kale, mustard) im read that reg lettus is bad for your cham, if not bad totally useless. romaine lettus is the only one that i know of that is any good. my veiled loves strawberrys. i dont no why, but he loves them. i think its cause they are red. try to mix up the fruit tho, so he doesnt get too much of one.

Panthers and Jackson's do not typically consume vegetation.
This is the work of the veiled chameleon (pretty exclusively).
Your chameleons are insectivores only.

How do you all feed this to your veiled chams? I got my cham last week and am trying to feed her kale. I've read to use veggie clips and since I don't have one yet I just hung the full leaf near her favorite perch by clamping the stem in the cage lid. Do I need to chop it up into little pieces or will she rip pieces off the leaf?

I really appreciate all help.

That'll work.
She may need to get used to being offered this ... and she may never eat it.
If she's well watered she doesn't really need it, but I find they really enjoy their greens.

Collard greens ripped into manageable size pieces.

Great, thanks. I threw stome smaller shreds of kale in the cricket feeder cup so I'll continue to do that.
