I have a you male and younger female housed together. I know she is not old enough to breed yet and that jackson's don't lay eggs. However do they still need to drop infertile stuff???
Yes, they will drop "pearls", and if she is old enough to drop pearls, she is old enough to breed. Personally, I would separate them before she gets totally stressed or prego. You may be wanting to breed but take yours and the chams time -- her health and life will depend on it.
I have always heard not to house young chams of the opposite sex together. He could breed before she is big and healthy enough as males are often ready much sooner than females. Unless you have a really big cage, he could stress her out by trying to breed her when she isn't receptive and making her angry. They are better off being housed individually. Correct me if I'm wrong.
My cage is pretty big for them right now as they are both young. I have had them housed together for a while now and get along great. He was housed at a petstore with about 9 other Jacksons all ages in a cage 1/4 the size of mine and she was captive born and housed with all her siblings before I bought her. Im surprised they like eachother and often sleep next to each other and I stuff. I know all the no no 's of housing them together and as they get older I will build a duplicate cage for her. Thanks for the input in the eggs. She is no where ready for that but just want some advanced knowledge as I knew they were live birth.
