My female veiled layed eggs the other day but has not been with another chameleon her whole life should i clean the nest out or leave it for a while? I didnt know if taking it away to soon would bother her. Sorry I dont know much about the breeding because I never planned on breeding her, any info would help thank you

if shes never been bred, then you can just remove the eggs and toss them out.
females can lay eggs whether or not they wre bred.

how long ago did she lay?

my female laid fertile eggs, and i removed them the next day.

they dont guard the eggs like some animals do.

once laid, and buried, they dont care.

i ask how long because sometimes, females will dig a hole, lay, then cover the hole, then sit and bask for a while, then dig again, lay again, and bury those.

she laid about 2 days ago, I just got home from work so im going to remove them and I will count them and let you know

how long does it take for them to notice the laying bin to lay eggs? because mine is most likely ready to lay since i saw her at the bottom sleeping and she's pretty fat. i have a t deremensis. i set up a seperate laying bin for her not inside the enclosure because my enclosure is not big enough for a 5 gallon bucket. i had vines set up around it go up. she would walk around in the sand/soil mixture and then climb back up. now its night time and she's sleeping. i put her back in her enclosure and hoping to try the laying bin the following day. is this process correct or should i be doing something else? plus i put a blinder up so she has her privacy.

You could try different holes, but I guess it depends on the size of the laying bin. I would also leave enough room for her to dig her own hole if she prefers that. As for size, I'd dig one that would more or less fit my hand in.
Smartest thing to do is definetely create different options for her, since they can be picky layers... Also create a spot where there are dead leaves on top of the soil to simulate a forest floor. I've had chameleons that wouldn't lay their eggs otherwise.

If you'd like to learn a bit more about deremensis, try to get your hands on Herp Nation issue 3, 2010. It contains a very good article about them.

Good luck!

Homer2010 ....how many eggs did your chameleon lay?

pwerfulyifu....I would recommend that you not move your chameleon back and forth from the cage to the bucket...you may be disturbing her enough that she won't lay her eggs. Also...Deremensis are picky about where they lay their eggs and its often hard to know what they will really like. Good luck with her.

she laid about 24 eggs and i have a 6 foot tall cage for her with a floor and and everything so i just let her lay her eggs in her cage instead of moving her. sorry this took so long to reply my laptop craped out so i had to get a new one.
