Ok just recently my veiled chameleon who is ruffly 9 to 10 months has been showing some new colors. She seems to be showing a lot more black all the time. When normally only happens when she is really mad. She is all bright green with black spots and some goldish color in there too. Which also is more then normal for her. Her are some pictures of her. Please let me know what you all think.

Also sorry about the blurry pictures I dont have the best camera.

No I guess need to get her one. You think those colors means she is carrying eggs?

And what dirt should I use for her to dig in?

The colors shown in the picture indicate that she is old enough to reproduce. A dark background color will usually indicate that she is gravid or non-receptive.

I always keep an opaque container of sand in the cage of any egglaying females' cages so that they have a place to dig to lay eggs. The container should be at least big enough for her to fit into (when its empty) with a couple of inches to spare on all sides (including above and below her). I always use a washed playsand that is moistened so that it will hold a tunnel when the female digs in it. Having a container in there will mean that you shouldn't have to look for the sometimes subtle signs that a female is ready to lay eggs.

this is what mine looked like 2 days before laying 32 eggs, this is what she looked like the hole time never had any black colors, total time from getting eggs to laying id say a few months. she was 1 1/2 years old... anyway im basically saying color doesnt indicate anything for sure, at least with mine anyway.

get some better pics and ill be able to tell by her size if she is holding any eggs, or if yours looks fat like mine in this picture she has started storing up eggs...
