Female Veiled Worrys

Ive had my female veiled for 3 years now, she just turned 3. and everything has been fine with here except recently the past month ive noticed shes not as friendly as she used to be. she used to climb right on my hand trying to get to the crickets i was about to give her. but now when i go near her cage she goes to the same spot under her shaded area, hiding from me, she turns a dark colour first though but shes obviously trying to hide from me. I figured maybe shes getting older and just generally getting more pissed off? my mum joked that shes getting menopausal lol from a distance when i see her in her cage she seems fine and content and was eating fine. shes been through about 5 or so clutches of eggs, could be more, i lost count and each time has been fine, she digs she comes back up, i go get the eggs, except recently she dug, came back up, i went to look, but no eggs. and since then she has slowed down her eating and ive noticed her tail and one of her back legs are always a very dark colour, this has only happened the passed few days and im beginning to get a little concerned about this. any advice on what this could be or if its just a phase or if its bad, anything would be helpful right about now. please and thank you.

i dont really know much about female veileds, but from what I've read it kinda sounds like she may be having problems laying her eggs. I hope she gets better :)

she might be getting reatty to lay...put about a 5 to 10 gallon lay box in there with either damp sand or like eco earth..im not sure about the eco earth though i would use sand...or shes just at that age that she doesnt wanna be handled anymore..they kinda go through puperty and just go grumpy lol

so you think maybe when i saw her dig and when she filled it in again she just decided to abort that lay? cos usually it doesnt take me long to find the eggs

You need to figure out if she laid the eggs or not. With veileds, when they are ready to lay, you can feel the eggs in her abdomen. The dark coloration in the back legs and tail worries me a bit. If she doesn't lay very soon, a trip to the vet may be needed. How long ago did she mate?

that was about 2 weeks ago. i put her back in her egg chamber now in a room by itself so she gets some quiet. i know a lot of you are thinking that it seems like along time but i remember the trouble i had with her first clutch of eggs. i went through a month trying to figure out whats wrong with her. the vet was pointless and didnt tell me how to prepare her for egg laying, i looked everywhere for things to do, i filled her cage with sand, soil everything. i didnt realise until someone told me on this site that she needs a deep bed of soil to dig down, i thought it was just gonna be a few inches from the top. So i got a big garbage can filled with soil and everything and the next day she laid. so shes a tough little veiled. and no she didnt mate.

so the main thing you guys think is that she has to lay the eggs still? and now as i write that i just realise how obvious the solution is, as to why it took me this long i have no clue. ill let you all know how this ends up.

is there anything i can do to encourage her to dig again? she doesnt seem to want to any more

Once they have passed the time to dig I don't think there is much you can do but take her to the vets...and you need to do it ASAP IMHO. Sometimes liquid calcium can help...but if there is a physical reason why she can't la the eggs it can be bad too...so the vet is the best option IMHO.
