Just a little PSA that I will be on vacation out of the country for the next 2 weeks and during that time will have spotty internet access just for checking emails. We leave tomorrow for Texas for Thanksgiving with the family and then my husband and I are off to Cambodia! So I won't be on the forums much or have the ability to respond to messages during that time for the most part (except maybe during the 16 hour plane rides). There will be several days when I'll be on a dive boat and really won't have any internet. I'm SUPER EXCITED! But just wanted to let everyone know since I get lots of messages that I'm not ignoring anyone! I just will be very out of reach. See you when I get back. :D

Dayna have a great holiday in Texas and a wonderful vacation. Be safe and look forward to having you back on the forum in a few weeks!!

I'm back! We saw pretty much the whole country (literally)! We spent time diving off the southern coast and saw the most sacred temple of Preah Vihear on the Northwestern border with Thailand and the main temples in between. Like Angkor Wat!

We got to ride an elephant into the temple complex!

The intricate detail of the stone carvings is really unbelievable and so much of the temples and the carvings are still perfectly intact (from the 9th and 10th century). It's amazing that they were able to be so skilled with such primitive tools and it has held up to time so well.

Diving was alright...lots of nice corals, sponges, and spiny urchins but not a whole lot besides that. A good bit of trash on the reef because unfortunately that's a problem everywhere there. But no significant life really. A few big starfish, quite a few of the regular reef fish and a few small eels. No octopus or crustaceans or sharks or turtles or anything large like that. No seahorses. :( So not as exciting as I thought it would be, but diving on a boring reef is still better than not diving!

And for the reptile lover in me I got to see a wild Tokay gecko! I tried so hard to be its friend. ;) Really is shocking to the little house geckos running around like usual and then look up and see a beast of a gecko looking back at you!

It was a fascinating cultural experience and definitely a very good trip. :)

Welcome back Dayna. You were missed here! I'm glad you had a safe and enjoyable trip. Thank you for sharing your trip with us through your awesome photos.

Welcome back! The pics of the temple are amazing, and the ones showing the tree growing out of the top are fantastic. Sorry the diving wasn't better, but you are right, a boring day of diving is better than no diving at all!!! :D

That looks like a wonderful trip. I would never have considered that as a vacation location. Shows how little I know about a lot of our world. The diving does sound pretty lack luster, but you got to dive. I can't dive anymore due to my asthma.:(

Welcome back any I will get you an updated care sheet ASAP.

The shot of the tree growing right into and on the temple was way cool. Better to see the all the geckos than what they're there eating. LOL!!!!!
