Hi all

Have been looking for a Ficus Benjamina for my cham but cant find one anywhere here in UK (or in my area atleast).

I have found a Ficus Kinky tho. Is this ok to use - are all ficus' ok to use or does it have to be Benjamina?

Thanks

Down south near London.

The only ones i have managed to find are about 5 ft high and my little chams home is 2ft!

I just dont want to put anything in there that might harm her!

ficus kinky is fine its just not an ideal "limb" provider but varigation on the leaves isnt a problem ...

Thanks!

We went out on sunday looking for one....

Tried Homebase, Focus, B&Q and 15 local garden centres - couldnt belive that they're werent any! - even tried tesco!

Some one said could be because it was mothers day and people dont buys 'happy mothers day ficus''!

Will use this Kinky one until i can find a Benjamina!

Thanks again

;)

I usually get my Ficus and Umbrella plants from B&Q. They do several different sizes too. A few weeks back I went in to get Lily a new Umbrella plant and they had no Ficus or Umbrellas at all, then the next week I went in and they had loads!! Maybe they are awaiting a delivery.

i wouldnt recommend buying a ficus or umberella plant from b&q or homebase as they tend to use pesticides on their plants.
Also its just starting to come into the season for these plants to be shelved in gardening centres.
A good place to look is a notcutts.
Also ebay have a couple of ficus benjamina for sale at the moment.
Have you thought of alternative plants?
Pothos or Dracena are small plants, which should be ideal for the size you require.
If all else fails and you feel you have to purchase a plant from b&q i suggest you give the plant a good wipe over from leaf to root.

Hope this helps
