Ive brought a ficus robusta for my chams vivarium from homebase the other day ive now been told that if broken.... It leeks a white substance that is poisonus to chams is this true or can i use the plant?

I am thinking this is also known as ficus elastica and if so then it is on the safe plant list under rubber tree. BUT I am not 100% sure they are one in the same. It talks about a white sap that is very sticky to the tongue so that makes me question it but again it may be the same plant listed as rubber tree. They look VERY similiar and when looking up robusta a couple of links to the ficus elastica came up

I would stay away from that particular plant. When injured it leaks a very thick white sap (as do most ficus varieties) but all the ones I have leak TONS of the white fluid. I doubt it would be good for the cham.

What a shame as i quite like it is there something similar plant i can buy in uk
Try the Schefflera Arboricola or Ficus Benjamin. Not sure if you can get em in the UK, but if you can...hop on it! :D

Be sure to look at the plants info cards by their scientific name or full name. Like the ficus you mentioned is different that a Ficus Benjamin.

Also Hanging Pothos Plants do wonders.
