Finally - Waxworm Breeding Success!

Back at the start of August I started a breeding colony of waxworms. The first attempt the previous summer was a bit of a disaster! I checked on the tub again the other day and found quite a few baby waxworms! I have finally got 3 to the stage where they would be big enough for Amy and Tommy to see them, lol! These few are almost ready to be eaten! After my first failed attempt I didn't hold out much hope for this batch either, but picking through the medium to find some fat and juicy looking waxworms was like finding gold! They move so much faster than the shop bought ones, lol!:D

Tonight I opened an old tub of waxies that had been left for a while and I found yet more pupae in the tub! I'm going to feed Amy and Tommy a couple of the moths then start another breeding colony with the rest! I actually watched a moth crawl out of it's pupa! Can't wait to see how Tommy reacts to a moth - Amy loves them so I know she'll enjoy her treat this week!:D
