Finally

I don't know how I did it, I've been trying for literally forever. But I FINALLY got one one the hornworms to cocoon. This may not be a big deal to most of you bug experts, but this is a giant feat for me. Now to buy more and learn from my mistakes.

Put them in a container of dirt and they will cocoon for sure. Wet the dirt first . When you find them at the bottom of the hornworm pod container, and they are no longer eating, remove them put them in the dirt.

About the time they start developing the ridges right?

You can take them out and put them between a couple paper towels, however you need to mist them every once and a while and keep them moist. You need to keep them a certain temperature and provide a basking light over their container to stop them from going into a prolonged diapause. I think the normal time is 12 or 18 hours of light, not sure.

Thanks I greatly appreciate your knowledge.

Unfortunately the moth died anyway. So back to the drawing board/wait for other to emerge. Poor Tony didn't even get to taste him. :/
