Sooo after a few weeks of setting up tempature readings and anticipation ihave my chameleon! i actually wound up getting a panther rather than a vieled and also she is a female. i did loads of research for when she becoms gravid and she is settling into her home pretty good! i handled her once going from her silk bag to her terrarium and she is extrmley shy which is obvious. her color is a light peach with some blue and green specs and when she gets upset she gets a very striking dark bar pattern. she ate two crickets so far and drank wonderfully and for the past few hours has been very dark under the basking lamp. i really wanna post a pic i snapped off my webcam but it wont let me upload! anyways i think im going to call her coral :) shes very young about 5 inches in length and im going to post a pic as soon as i can get it working! also just so i know when will she become gravid for the first time?

thanks jan :) shes only a few months ol so i think i have a while i just want to be ready. im pretty nervous bc i hear of so man problems with them laying eggs:eek: but im sure well be just fine :D

calcium without d3 every other feeding

calcium with d3 2-3 x a month

reptivite 2-3 x a month:)

Coral is a good name for a female - i like it :)

She may not lay eggs at all, ever, if her temps are right, her food intake controlled, and she never sees a male. But more likely she will, sometime after she's 5 months old. You'll probably see her colours change, and her attitude - she may eat less, roam the cage floor more.

how often you use supplements depends on many factors.
Use a phos free calcium lightly on most crickets and other insects with a poor calcium content. some bugs you dont need to dust at all, such as butterworms. how often you use D3 depends on the brand and whether or not she goes outside in real light. Herptivite maybe twice a month - gutloading is more important than a vitamin supplement. see this blog entry for more info:
