Ok I have been wanting to mate my female veiled chameleon. The local pet store where i got her are trying to find a better breeder so im not sure when. I was wondering where a good place to order online for one and not too pricey. I also dont want a baby...because janis is around 6 months old Also some questions
I have a very large cage for janis, about 3 feet wide and 2 1/2 feet tall (it was hand built)
but the pet store says that it would be ok to keep them together, but ive seen on some other forums that it is not a good idea...suggestions would be very helpful.

thanks
jessica

As stated in a thread you just created, you said she is recovering from MBD. I highly suggest not mating a female with previous MBD conditions (and current ongoing problems) unless you want a dead/suffering female with badly calcified eggs.

janis recently had problems with metabolic bone disease and she has now became very healthy as far as stronger when climbing, her limbs are no longer swollen and she has has her appetite back. But her aim hasnt been dead on latley is that an effect from the disease or she still sick? or just because of young age? i am still continueing to give her calcium water and her food is covered with calcium as well. She has been keeping her darker colors as well like she is discontent. I also thought that maybe she is getting the age to lay infertile eggs. thanks for any help...jess again :)

yes i agree, i wanted to wait put is it still sth same effects if they have had MDB? because if so bredding is comepletely out of the question for me.

Her previous conditions will likely hinder her ability to produce healthy, viable eggs. I would not breed a veiled that has suffered with mbd at all. But before you consider breeding, have you considered the time and costs that pertain to raising a clutch of chameleons? It takes money, but most of all, time, time, and more time. I would suggest you sharpen you keeping skills before taking the leap. Good luck.

So, The pet store that sold you a chameleon with MBD and tells you it's okay to house a male and female calyptratus together is the one you want to become a breeder for?

alot of people say not to breed b4 they are 12 months old for a start.
I (in my very little experience with chameleons) can tell you not to keep 2 together. I had a male and female together and she took over the the cage. The smaller male would stay out of her way at the bottom so wouldnt get any uv's or as much food.
I had to put a divider in the cage and since then he has done really well and grown bigger than her.
And the cage is around 3 foot high, 3 foot wide and 1 foot deep.
