Hey Guys,

So I finally finsihed the cage. It hard to see, but I also put a 5.0 UV on the bottom because I saw a lot of dark spots and I wanted Thor to receive the right amount of uv. I did add an additional light for the heat so he can be toasty for the winter. He had been all over this cage. He LOVES it. He doesnt even want to come out..haaa. It was a difficult cage to build, but worth it :)

You can cover the dirt on the bottom with river stones so he doesn't ingest it.

He loveesss it! It’s exactly like a fun house for chameleons-) I actually went back and forth with the drainage and that’s what actually took me the longest to finish. We ended up using tarp so nothing would go through to the wood. I put Styrofoam on all corners under the tarp to have the water flow to the center where I installed a pipe they use for sinks and I covered it with screen so no insects can go through it. The tarp is held down with a glue gun. I tried using aquarium sealant but the tubes where to small and hard to work with.

It is cover with river rocks and I also covered all the other plants as well, but he just moves them..lol Thankfully I used all natural dirt with no pestisides. He eats all his food, so you would think he wouldnt eat it, but I guess he loves the dirt - Maybe its flavored..lol

Tricky Chameleon! Maybe try laying paper towels over the river rocks wrapped around the base of the plants. It will catch the feces from falling in the plants as well. Then just remove it and replace the paper towels as it gets soiled.

Very nice work!! It is off to a great start and I image he really enjoys all the areas to climb. Once you get your other plants in there and perfect your bottom for drainage the way it works best.. it is going to be perfect for both of you!!! Great job :)

I will def try that. Thanks for the pointer. Man the things I do for this lil guy. People look at me weird when I tell them about my lil guy haa

I def would recommend to use the YARDGARD Poultry Netting in green from Home Depot or Lowes on the inside of your cages. You can staple them or zip tie. It really is great on their nails and comfy for the climbing. I used screen on the outside so no insects can escape.
