So...after digging all day yesterday...she has covered her hole an...backing into her hole, and then covering the hole and coming up in the early evening...apparently she is not done yet. Even though I put juicy hornworms and discoid roaches in her cup...she went to her sleeping spot. I was going to check her eggs this morning but she is back in her hole digging.:rolleyes::eek:o_O:confused:

It can happen.

How did she look? Was she looking a little dehydrated or did she look really good before she went back down? Did she eat or drink anything last night?

She is darker than usual but looks good otherwise. I misted her enclosure pretty heavy, but where she likes to rest is on a branch behind a large hanging pothos so I couldn't tell if she drank or not. Had bugs dusted and available but she did not seem interested. Keeping a close eye on her. (She doesn't know it).

49 eggs...all is well.

Is she eating and drinking now? If she is, feed her twice a day with heavily dusted feeders. Really pour the calcium into her. If she is finished mist heavily. I leave misters on for 20 minutes at a time after a female has laid. Leave the laying bin in even if she is finished because sometimes they dig and try to lay even when there are no eggs left.

She has eaten 3 good sized hornworms and 3 nice sized discoids already. Is drinking and all insects were heavily dusted. She did this like a pro! I'm so proud of her. She sure didn't look like she had 49 eggs in her. I am keeping a close eye on her and never would have survived this first time if not for all the information I got from this forum and all the help from CF's members.(y)

Oh my goodness!! So proud of little Fiona! Good job girl! I haven't been on here in a while but I'll have to call you and see how she's doing!!

Wonderful ^^ and 49 eggs isn't too bad a a clutch size when it comes to overabundance. It's a relatively normal sized clutch even a little bit on the small side for veiled chameleons. So you are definitely doing good at keep her in safe parameters. It's when it reaches something like 60 or 70 that you have to worry. I am so glad everything went smoothly and she is recovering well. Keep pampering her for a few days yet. One of the few times in your life when you don't have to worry about food intake and get to spoil her rotten <3 enjoy it
