It's always good to cover your bases

Cup feeding is the easiest way to feed and leave him alone and him still be safe. What you do is put him near the cup in the beginning (a bit of stress) after putting the cup in near a good spot (I put it near a favorite basking branch) and then dump the crickets in that have had their back legs removed, and leave him alone.

If your going to bring him in for a check up you might as well bring in a fresh fecal sample, like @Andee said its good to have your bases covered.
