First Dubia Colony

I didn't see the dark part by digby? Mine thrive with a daylight time. They have Dark places to hide, but they seems to be reproducing faster now that they have a day time. Mine wouldn't reproduce (at all) when I kept them dark 24/7.

Since they originate from the floor/litter of dense tropical rainforest, I dont see how lighting makes much difference, unless you keep them in total blackout darkness.
I dont see any point in providing lighting, other than whatever ambient light penetrates the crate anyway. *shrugs*

I just open it a couple times a day so they can get some fresh air, i have heard that they prefer darkness. Dont they also run away when you shine light on them?? To me that looks like they dont like the light.

Well everyone has their own techniques and if it works all is good then. :)

If my dubias have 2 heat pads already, but I don't feel they are warm enough to wanna breed, how can I safely make it hotter for them?

Most however not all species of roaches are photophobic, therefore even in dayight they go further under or into things to avoid it. To maiximize productiom absence of light is one of the key elements.

QuioteCham where did you get that picture you are using in your avatar? That is Evander he died a few years ago. I know the owner, also the person who took that picture, she was/is known online as SilverWhiteWolf aka LovelyPinkGecko?
