ok so heres the story. She has not ate anything in 7 days. Its been 24 days since the first mating, she dug her first hole today. Does all this sound normal????

I'm going to take her out of her cage and put her in a large garbage can filled with dirt/sand mixture on the bottom because she has still not laid in the pot. I don't know what else to do I'm not getting any help on here

should i take her out of the bin and put her back in her cage when the lights go off or just leave her in the bin??? Need to know asap

I've read numerous times, on this site, that females need to have privacy when they dig their holes for eggs. So, you might want to keep her in the barrel with some things to climb on and cover it with a sheet and see if she digs. The pot in your enclosure may not be large enough. Of course, keep a watchful eye on her in the barrel. If she is not digging test holes, get her back in her enclosure as she may not be ready. She should somehow indicate when she's ready to lay and it seems she is offering subtle hints to keep you on your toes. :D

Just my opinions based on what I've read and have learned. I can tell you this is what I'd do and probably what I will do when my female is gravid.

Good luck!

man this was exciting. i was so scared digging up the eggs because it was my first time. 28 eggs in total for her first ever clutch. The female is doing great finally eating now after 7 days of not wanting to eat. She ate right after she was done laying.

i uploaded this video onto YouTube. I setup a webcam on top of the laying bin, which made things alot easier. She never had to see me so i never disturbed her, i knew exactly where the eggs were, and i got to witness this wonderful process first hand. Just a couple of benefits of the webcam. The video was 5 hours long but was sped up to be only 5 minutes long(each second is a minute) Anyway here is the vid

You should read some of the horror stories concerning incubator before you buy. Over heating being the main issue, killing everything.

Got the incubator today. It's smaller then I thought I hope I can even fit everything in it.

Just want to know so im ready when the eggs hatch.

Till what age can i house all the chameleons together??

What size cage would be be good for all 27 babies if all of them hatch???

Would a screen or glass enclosure be better for babies????

Every thing else is the same for babies as adults right. Using the same plants, same lighting, ect???

You can house then all together for about the first 3-4 months.. cage wise what most people do is get a big plastic tub like you would use for a dubia colony.. cut the top out and hot glue screen around the top.. I have seen some people use small screen cages and exoterras but it seems like most people use the tubs.. on the inside I made a jungle gym out of kabob skewers ... you can use real or fake plants personally I didn't use real plants for the first two months because you have to clean the cage like everyday because of all the poop.. the jungle gym I made I could pull right out and then clean the tub it was the easiest.. you will go through a lot of paper towels because u will have to wipe down the mist non stop to make sure humidity doesn't stay to high and the fruit flies and small crickets drown very easily.. for the first 2 months or so you shouldn't even need a heat lamp just use the long tube uvb bulb.. preferably not a brand new one if you have a used bulb use that.. a brand new one can hurt the hatchlings eyes.. temps need to be around 70-76.. you don't want to get it too hot they are so small and can't regulate temps yet so they can overheat and dehydrate very easily... It's a learning process I can't wait to do it again lol.. when you are expecting them to hatch you will want to start getting fruit fly and bean beetle cultures going... they are the cheap food sources.. you will go through thousands of crickets like it ain't **** and that will rack up the bill.. you can get fruit flies and a culturing kit from joshsfrogs.com for like 30 dollars and make your own cultures this saves hundreds on food cost.. they also have bean beetles I think 8 dollars per culture it wouldn't be a bad idea to start the bean beetles in a couple months.. as they produce like crazy then it takes a month or two to start booming again after they die.. if you need help culturing them hit me up

That was an amazing video! That was pretty cool to watch her change her colors the whole time she laid eggs.
