First time in the sun

Today I took Remy out for her first sun experience. I think she actually likes me now. She was iffy about it at first, then she got her happy colors. I’ve never seen her as light as she was unless she is sleeping . Maybe she will willingly come to me more often now. We were only out there for about 15 mins because it was like 98 today. The pictures where she’s darker is when we first got out there.

Aww! She is very pretty! Where did you get her? I’m getting a girl from Kammerflage in July! Can’t wait! The boys are gorgeous but the girls are so super sweet!
I got her from the Repticon that was in town in Raleigh, NC in January. A local man breeds them in Asheboro and sales them. She was about 2 months when I bought her, so I wasn’t sure if she was boy or a girl. Surprise! She’s a beautiful girl. I am happy with my Choice! She has some very beautiful colors!

Chams don’t have the emotional capability to bond.

We can define it differently. Their acceptance of me joining into their daily little magical world of experiences is enough for me to define as a bond.
I havent got that many levels. I have work aquaintences and one or two people I would eat a meal with or leave the house with.
They have people they hiss at, things they will eventually eat, and a person they’d eat a meal from and leave the house with.
It’s a sad Venn diagram, but it’s a bond.

Your confusing tolerance and not being viewed as a predator with an emotional bond. You can call it a bond if you want, but that doesn’t make it true.

I don’t enjoy sounding like the old man at the end of the street screaming at kids to get off his lawn but I feel compelled to do so. I’ve seen this misconception kill a lot of chams. I know this argument isn’t going to win me many friends but I’m ok with that because I know it’s in the chams best interest. I’ll take the arrows to set the record straight.

I wish this wasn’t the case, I mean chams are already the coolest animals in the world. How much cooler would they be if they could feel?

What if chams do feel, but they are also the equivalent to an old man yelling at the kids to get off their lawn, and we just dont listen so they just hate us  hate is a feeling!

I think they are all different... I consider Beman and I to have a bond. But I do not think it is a he loves me thing. I think it is a he trusts me situation. He is only like this with me. He is totally cautious of my daughter and only tolerates my mother. If either of them walk into the room he could care less but if I walk into the room he comes to the front of his enclosure and down to be let out.

Granted I conditioned him so to speak when he was younger to relate me to food as it being a positive experience for him. But there is very much a difference in how he acts with me vs anyone else that he has come into contact with.

Do I think this is a situation where he loves me... absolutely not. I think it is a situation where I have shown him that he can trust me. That I am safe and that I am the bringer of food LOL

I do understand where you are coming from. I think it is a slippery slope while some may take this relationship with their cham to the extreme dressing them up like dogs, taking them to stores with them, or thinking their cham wants to watch tv with them. That is just not a natural thing. I try my best to always mimic his environment to be as natural as possible. I acknowledge that he is a Chameleon not a dog. I give him respect and let him be him. I do not try to pretend he is anything other than a Chameleon that should be given everything he needs to thrive in the most natural way possible.
