Your Chameleon - Male panther chameleon 8 months old

Fecal Description - greyish brown and pretty mucusy looking, not very solid, appears to have mucus in it.Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Yes. As of 2 weeks ago it was negative. History -Had really smelly fecal so I took him to vet, The vet gave me Flagyl and I gave him that once daily for 7 days. Fecal looked a bit better. The test came back positive for pinworms about 3 days later. I gave him Panacur once about a month ago and then 1 more 3 weeks later. Test came back to see if 3rd dose was needed and came back negative.

Current Problem- Floyd hasnt seemed to poop in 3 weeks. I thought he was doing it somewhere in the plant and I couldnt see it but I went in and tore the cage apart and found nothing. I gave him a warm shower for 30 mins last night and a worm covered in olive oil. Still nothing. He is eating like normal, drinking, and very active. Other than not pooping he looks fine, I havent seen him trying/struggling. I have found sperm plugs a few times as well. What Should I do, there really isnt anything at all that he could swallow that would get stuck.

I got a rescued veiled who was being fed mainly meal worms by her previous owner, she would not poop at all, it took several warm baths through out the day once I noticed it to get a poop, I actually took her aster plant, it's a small plant, and let her perch on my hand, but she could crawl to her plant and back to me as she wanted and held her lower half under warm water, not luke warm, warm, but not hot, I tested the temp with my daughters thermometer it was 81 degrees, I held her there with a gentle stream flowing over her belly, close to the plant. I know this made her ansy but this helped to get things going as well. I increased her mistings big time, and gave her finely chopped water spritzed mustard greens, and left her basking lights on 30 mins longer that night and I got a huge poop the next morning. It was so dry and gross and I mean just insane. I think the previous owner only fed her meal worms. I did not feed her the next day any feeders only veggies, and fruits and 1 raspberries which is her treat and lots and lots and lots of mistings. She gets no mealies now. The thing that came out of her that next morning was horrific. My husband and I couldn't believe it came out of her tiny little butt. Iv got her diet on point now. And gut load her cricketts with a huge variety of fruits and veggies daily and she poops daily. This is only what I did. I'm a new owner, and have sought help from the senior members of this member and sadly learning from the mistakes of others from the stories iv read. I read about the water baths on another forum. It worked for me, best of luck.

I have been giving him baths but nothing is happening, I have a vets appointment with him on Friday at 6:30pm. I will keep showering him every night and hopefully he does his business before the vet but I want to ensure he is okay.

No more meal worms!

Here's what I do, put a few drops of olive oil on a cricket and feed it to your cham.
That's usually all it takes, and you will see a giant poop the next day.

If impaction, that could be more serious :(

I have never fed him mealworms before and dont plan on it. I gave him some olive oil on Tuesday night but it didnt appear to have done anything

Watch him poop on the way to the vet. That would be a blessing. Hoping for the best for Floyd. Please post back about his progress. I read all the posts on here and find myself rooting for everyone's little guys. I also own 2 leapord geckos, one of which is a tremper albino that's blind as a bat; she was going to be put down as a juvenile by her previous owners but I took her in and hand feed her. She gets impacted a lot because she eats weird stuff, so I can't give her a moist hide anymore. It's stressful when they are struggling. Hope you get some poop soon!

I just lost a 3 month old bell albino rescue to coccidia of some sort. I put a lot of money in him and tried everything I could to save him. He was just too little and I got him when it was too late. I really cant handle another sick reptile. I also have a blind gecko who I rescued from Kijiji. He is a TUG snow I use moist paper towels for his hide and hes on reptile carpet. I haven't had him eat anything he shouldn't because there isn't anything he could he could eat in his cage.

Floyd is going on week 3 with no poop. I thought it was just in the plants and I wasn't seeing it but I tore the whole cage apart and searched every square inch and found nothing at all. He cant really ingest anything that would cause a serious impaction, I have coco fiber in the plants as substrate but I covered them in big rocks and made sure it was Floyd proof, the only thing he could eat is plant matter and hes a panther so I don't think he would ever eat plants, I haven't seen him do it. I am really worried because I read other people saying they are supposed to go everyday and three weeks is an insanely long time. If you saw him you would think hes fine, colourful, clear eyes, eating well, active, hydrated etc. The only thing that concerns me is either his poo is teleporting to another dimension or he hasn't gone at all...

Dumb question: Did you take out all the rocks on the plant and look for poop there? I was worried because I couldn't find his poop for a week, then I took the bottom plant out and was taking out the rocks, and some of the rocks weren't rocks. I used big stones so I'd never have to worry about him eating them, and didn't think too much about the voids between them. The poop had fallen and rolled into a little cave. I hope he hid some brown easter eggs for you. :)

Yeah I checked really thoroughly. Also when he did go he had his 'spot' that he would always go in every day for months.

Looks like the showers paid off! I came home from work and there was a giant pile in his usual spot. I'm so happy he managed to get that out of him lol

3 weeks isn't entirely abnormal - no cause for concern with an adult.
make sure there is plenty of water.

and btw a few mealworms as part of a varied diet is no problem at all.

I know what you mean. Twitch is my albino, she is in a thirty gallon tank with carla, who is a snow and really sweet. They have become really good friends, no bullying. But she started eating bits of the paper towels once I realized she was eating the moss and switched over. So now it's nothing. Now I mist down paper towel tubes and use under tank heaters, and use the repti carpet too, she is getting bigger now and tongs are in my near future, she has horrible aim, and bit me good last night. I'm all messed up sleep wise now lol, up at 7am with Frita, and at 2 a.m feeding my geckos.

Im sorry about floyd. He will poop. I have the big rocks on my plants too. I have a pathos and a fig tree in my enclosure, Frita has ate almost all the leaves off the fig tree, she crapped a whole turd cricket leaf thing one time, stem and all. Did you check in between the rocks? Possibly slithered down between them?

I'm sure he looks great, you sound like a caring owner; you're stressing over poop like a good dad. I have 2 human kids and I remember googling things about their crap at 2 a.m when they were babies. I logged on just to see if he had pooped. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Im a reptile mommy :) yeah I care a lot about my reptiles. I live on my own and they are my babies lol. My boyfriend and I were cheering last night lol it was really funny

YES! :) I'm so glad he went. that has to take a load (ha ha) off your mind. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thank you, and I hope yours was fantastic. :D Is the Canadian Thanksgiving dinner traditionally a turkey, too? I know it's a dumb question, but I'm curious.
