Flying Jacksons?

In the wild they use jumps like these to avoid predators.. it's also a bad characteristic, for heart's keepers, of other Trioceros like quadricornis and montium!!

Don't try this in captivity!!! :(

So they do this alot in captivity too?
How would you ever free range them D:
Or handle them when you need to clean their cage?
Theyd be all over the place D:

DISLIKE! I've seen my Veiled do this but that was when i was trying to get her out to clean her cage and she didn't want to come out D: but now she never does it

I know right...
I was like why wouldnt he just CLIMB down?
But the whole predator thing makes sense when you got something comeing for you
you dont actually have time to leaf step your way down do ya :p

I'm guessing this is a large wild male Jackson, that's only goal is to flee the Charlie Brown tree, and get back into the safety of brush, or a tall tree.

No I thought so too but the youtube user has other vids of the jackson in his house
feeding him over sized roaches and centipedes :/

I think he was just messing with him out side :(

I had a fischer's that would "jump" off the valance box for my curtain and land on the floor....never hurt himself once!

ok i know it weems wrong but its not like the guy threw his cham from the tree or stood behind him with a fake bird and scared him. just like we say every cham has their own personality, some dont like to be messed with at all and some will actually sit with u while u watch tv etc. etc. youve heard the stories. what if this guy just discovered one day he liked jumping from trees and liked the way the wind felt in his horns. lol! you just never know.

He kept placing him back into the tree where he knew the jackson would jump.
Just to get some laughs
Its wrong.
Why put the animal in a position where it could hurt its self?

exactly! nicely worded!
that dumb idiot should be put on a building repeatedly
and made to jump! see how he likes it. im sure that cham doesn't like to do that all the time and its got to stress it out.

my fischer's does this... alot. i absolutely hate it, which is why i seldomly handle him. he doesnt hurt himself ever, but it is still not something i condone or want him doing. he jumped 2.5' from his cage onto the grass when i had him out taking pics. obviously he was trying to get away, so i put him back. it deffinately was a very cute jump though, ill admit, but he is a crazy little bloak which is why Thomas' nick name is Tarzan.

I don't see that it's a huge deal...the chameleon could just stay where he is, you know...It would be different if we saw someone behind the animal poking it to make the jump.

I sort of love the way he seems to just be strolling along...nothing of interest here! No need to be looking at me!......and then BAM, he flies!

LMAO dont make me laugh,
Im mad at that guy :p

If it were my pretty wittle jackson id have put him some where he would be safe and not jump around or left him on the ground until he clamed down instead of having him
jump six times from the tree filmed at different angles and then slowing it down so he looked like 007!

I have to agree. He's not making him jump. He does keep putting him back up, but chameleons are designed to take falls well without injury.

Plus...the animal has the option to not jump...it clearly thinks jumping is the better plan.

I get really pissed when people force their animals to do things that are not in their nature. In this case, it's obvious that the chameleon wants to make that jump.

It might suggest that the chameleon really wants to get away and that captivity is the big problem...but that would be a difficult discussion wouldn't it?
