Fog vs. mist question

Honestly, If you do get the fogger, it will keep the humidity up but when I had the ZooMed Repti-Fogger I still misted 2-3 times a day just to make sure. A lot of people on here have been keeping Chameleons longer than myself but that is my opinion. But I also found that my baby was drinking off of the hose of the fogger lol through the screen. Very funny to watch then drink sometimes. But for the misting if you have the fogger, i would just get a misting bottle and do it that way and spritz it.

Foggers are mostly used for species that need higher humidity, if you are planning on a Veiled or Panther then just misting is fine. It doesn't replace the misting but a fogger as well won't hurt.
They are not run continuously even for the mountain species.

Welcome to the forums. Foggers are not recommended for chameleons. If you want an automatic mister I would recommend the MistKing. We have had several for years and it's an excellent auto mist system. You will also need a dripper for him to drink. I have a blog for new keepers attached below. It will tell you everything you need to get started with links to what most items look like and where you can buy. Most items that you need for chameleons you will need to order on line because you will not find them at local pet stores.

Still wondering

Got it but still my question, How do you keep the fog in a screen enclosure? I imagine you'd have to be very careful of the surface your enclosure is on so there isn't any water damage. Wouldn't the confused fog just leak all away?

not if you aim the nozzles right.

I use a mistking system. and while some mist gets out, it evaporates before it gets anywhere it could do any damage.

Vaporizer

Got it. When my kids were little I had a vaporizer. Lots of spitting water. Hence my confusion.

My mistking system doesnt spit at all. it has a very fine mist that drapes the leaves in the cage, but doesnt soak anything, unless of course you set it run for 5 minutes each time.
