food question

every other day seems to be the best. in the begining your Cham may not eat... mine didn't eat for the first week and a half but them he went on an eating rampage!!! now he eats about 7 crix every other day and he gets a dragon fly about once a week. i have an anole in the cage with him and he gets to have the smaller crix and the house flys i catch and put in there. they even bask together, the anole will lay on my chams back.:D

bunch of question

i got a bunch of questions about these little guy,

one: i want to know if it possible to keep a small fountain inside the cage? ive seen some video where chameleon drink off the fountain.

2: how often do you need to keep the cage humid?

3: how often do you have to feed them?(from baby to adult)

ill think about more question when i get these answers.

No, bacteria can grow in fountains. Just get one of those little drippers from petco and you will be fine. Humidity should stay around 60% when it's dry, and when you mist(should mist aprox. 3-5 mins each time) it should go up to about 70-80%(this is for panthers and veileds) but only mist three times a day and let the cage dry out after each misting. When they are babies you feed them everyday, as adults it will be every other day.

how many crickets or any other insect do i feed them?( baby and adult)

how do you keep cage humid?

what is the proper uva and uvb light i should get?(i check on the lll reptile website and i saw that they have the uva light that is a long bulb instead of a regular bulb.)

what is an easy way to clean the cham poop?

30??? yikes, that's how many my beardie eats in one sitting... lol when the crix are small i would just give about 6 or 7 and if they go quick see if he will eat a few more. you don't want to leave the crix in with the cham over night, they may consider him as a late night snack and hurt him badly.

I feed babies as much as they will eat in a couple of minutes at each feeding and leave a couple to spare in the cage...and I usually feed the babies once a day.

I feed adults about 10-15 crickets every 2 or 3 days..depending on the season. You can substitute other insects so that the "mass" is about the same as this. If you find that the chameleon is getting thin with this feeding, then you can increase it, etc.

The insects should be fed a nutritious diet and gutloaded too...and you need to use the appropriate supplements.
