Found Veild Colony In Wild!

yeah if anyone wants to go..... i have this buddy who loves to go field herping. he is a tiney lil fast/agile mofo! so he would be great at climbing trees for us. i send him running up cliffs to catch chuckawallas cuz im a bahemouth that would cause an avalanche:D

I would not mind hearing from other members who live near these non native colonies as well (Hawaii, Southern and Central California, Florida). As well from members who live in areas that have got chameleons as a native species. Definitely keep us posted if you do not mind.

These posts probable should go on the in the Field Observations thread section of these forums.

There are chameleons in central California?

There is a well documented population of Trioceros jacksonii xantholophus in the Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo area. They have been there for a while and have had threads about them and at least one article written about them. If your interested google or search for the thread about them.

Yea..that is kinda cool...but in some circumstances introducing non-native animals can be disastrous....I.e.,Burmese pythons in Florida, frogs in Hawaii,......the brown snake in guam has wiped out most of the bird population there...not saying the anoles are harmful, but who knows what bug perhaps they may eat that might become threatened in the future??

Yeah.... If it was anything besides Anoles I would taken them to the pet store on consignment. The yard was teaming with Blue Bellies already

The area where I found my veiled is almost all private property, The good news is that a couple of the neighbors are cool. If you guys are really going to get orginized to go let me know and I can make a few calls to clear it with them so you dont waste a trip. I live abou 10 mins from hthe location so no prob for me.
Heres a pic of my wild caught.

That is a really good looking male C. calypatratus. He's got great orange color.

If you guys are fans for hunting chameleons in the wild I would save up towards eco tourism in Madagascar or Africa. It is second to none.
