wondering about basking light , my girl keeps opening her mouth under her light today, once she even look like she was yawning . I've read that she's probably hot . The temp was at 88 . I moved light up 2 inches temp is 79.2 . She's was not moving to a cooler spot . She looks a bit dark now . Last night was the first night with no heating lamp .

88 is really hot. Now if it was just a basking area around that tempature it would be great. But if the whole cage is around 88 then is way to hot. I like to keep my cage around 75-78 degrees.

Just basking was 88 , Rest of cage is 74 . Francis in that picture is under basking spot . The tell mama bear is right under her . Now her basking spot is 79.2 . The basking light sits about a foot off top of screen . It's on a stand that we can adjust . This is the brand

I think your original temps are fine. 8 is a good temp for basking. If your cage is set up with gradients, as you said the cage is 74 in other areas, then your cham will move if too hot.

I moved them down agin trying to make it more like 80 or 82 and she did the yawning thing agin .she's not leaving her basking spot . Her basking spot is just 80 .

I have had her 2 months . The pet store had her 2 month they said . I'm thinking around 6 months . She did see the vet about 3 weeks ago . She did believe at that time she was under a year for sure .

Her basking temps even when she's an adult should go no higher than 84 and should stay around 80-84. Anything hotter can cause larger clutches of eggs and more often.

Ok so 79.9 is good . She must have been hot . I really did not give her a change to move I just moved her basking light . We have other lizards that require much hotter temps . I have lots of Digital and regular thermometers in her cage . Thank you . She seems to be getting a bit more chunky .
