Fruit feeding..oustalets chameleon

That is pretty interesting as far as the discrimination of objects and the utililty of the tongue for Oustalet's. I know there have also been some reports of the WC Florida specimens actually digging burrows underground during the cold winters that Florida had a few years ago helping them continue to thrive. Interesting what chams are capable of in times of need. I do know that my Ousties would never touch fruit or plants. I always offered them because we have snacks for our tortoises, but never did they actually try them.
 
I had a panther chameleon that ate green peas and at first I thought he thought they were insects but he did it on other occasions too.

Chameleons that have lost their tongues walk up to the insects to eat them...just like they do with the fruit.
