full floor coverage?

hey i know substrate is out of the question but i got thinking about if i were to put down a nicely packed layer of Bio Active substrate so then the springtails eat any mold or anything that were to try and grow. As well as having full plant coverage with my ficus tree in the middle and some pothos and bromeliads around it and the rest of the ground covered with a moss and wandering jew so the whole floor space of the enclosure is fully covered and acts as a huge plant pot

You have too at least tell everyone what type of Cham you're trying to keep with using the substrate before they tell you it's not a good idea

I would just go no substrate. The soil will be too damp with all the misting.

it would be a male jacksons cham (jacksonii xantholophus)

and i would set it up so there is drainage under the soil so as water saturates the soil it flows thru the soil and thru a screen or something finer and into a 2x2 foot funnel (home made) into a bucket. so there wouldnt be any issue with sitting water as once the soil can no longer absorb any more it flows thru the bottom (like a plant pot would)

bio active substrate with earthworms pill bugs and spring tails they eat and break down feces and any kind of mold and such i use it with my monitors and it takes care of even their feces within a day its gone (usually before it starts to smell)

any one have anything to say? i explained how id do drainage and how id be sure there wouldn't be anything growing from it that would cause problems

Yes it can work look up living vivarium there's a good thred with lots of posted on here somewhere I have a living vivarium with my 8m panther its brilliant plants are doing grate though he dose some times dig about in the earth even with moss over it. They do chew on everything too im not worrying about it as long as nothing is poison they'd be exposed to all this in the wild. I think it can all be too clean and sterile for them, Just like humans, it can't be helthy!

this is exactly how i think with any animal i keep plus a perfectly clean and sterile enviroment can bring down their immune system by not having any contact with any thing even good bacteria.

these animals live fine in the wild with dirt and rocks and water and such they dont live on news paper and paper towel and they dont have perfect drainage all the time these animals have lived and evolved for many many years to be able to survive in the wild with the things we keep them from and more. they live in an environment where there are springtails and other little critters that they work with as well as many other critters
