Funny basking technique

So i have a 3-4 month old vield chameleon. Him and seem to bond pretty well now. He wasnt too fond of me when i first set him in the tank (no surprise). So i think this isn't to do with stress.

But,i recently put a hibiscus plant in his cage. He also has a fake twistable vine and a pathos plant. He use to hide in the pathos alot and didnt bask much or anything which some what concerned me. Since i have put the hibiscus plant in he has decided its a great way to climb to the top of his cage and hang upside down directly underneath his uvb light.

Any thoughts? Is he getting enough uvb? might just be being a goofball? I just twisted the vine in a way he can bask closer to his heat light and uvb light. See if that changes anything.

I should also say that he wasn't eating on any regular basis at all. Now that he is upside down under his uvb light he has ate 3 mealworms (small) a day for 3 days. The most regular i have ever seen him. His colour is also a much more vibrant green which he seems to have when he was in a good mood. Now its almost always that green.

Should i just let him have his fun or try not to allow him to be that close to the light?

He is definitely getting to the age where he needs to be moved to a screen enclosure. Also, if he is able to get directly under his UVB bulb, make sure the basking bulb isn't setup in a fashion where he could get contact burn from the screen top. There is always debate on glass enclosures being suitable for chameleons, but that is ventilated glass terrariums, not aquariums. 3 small mealworms a day is on the low side for a growing Veiled. I would check the temps in the enclosure and make sure they're reaching proper levels.

I have a screen top on the aquarium and a fan blowing air around the room. Temp is 75-80 f. he has no interest in crickets. Loves the meal worms and loves waxworms.

He loves those worms because they are all fat kinda like having a cheeseburger all the time. You should read the care sheets here they are a great start and also I am not sure if the fan is blowing in the cage or you mean a ceiling fan because a fan blowing directly in the enclosure is no good.

I second this. This is all fat, all the time, and not good for him. You need to mix in crickets, dubias, silkworms and other good feeders for him. You NEED to get him out of the fish tank and into a proper screen mesh cage. 3 Mealworms a day is not NEARLY as much as he should be eating. Lack of appetite could be happening because of the improper keeping conditions.

He was in a glass cage with a mesh door at the store i purchased him from. He just ate a cricket. Not much interest in a second. I have read the care sheets before and a few times after buying him. The store owner said he was a little fussy at times then as well. It is a ceiling fan and no it is not blowing directly into the cage. Should have been more specific. I am in the process of building him a screen cage as i know glass isnt the best for him, also i want a larger cage for him anyways. Its hard to understand what he wants. Hes currently staring at me as if he wants more food but when i put a cricket or worm near him he doesn't show large interest. I am trying hard to do right for him i hope no one thinks im miscaring for him out of lack of knowledge or care.

It's always best before getting any new exotic pet,to spend hours reading up on them.I will be getting my 6 month old Nosy Mitsio on Friday, which I can't wait for.i spent the last 2 months getting his enclosure set up & right.Spending many an hour reading threads on this forum & other websites about husbandry, care and whatever else I needed too know.
I am sure no one thinks you are mistreating your chameleon, but there will be many who will agree that you need to know as much as possible, before actually getting an exotic pet :)
