Furcifer lateralis major

nicotrash

Hi guys, I'm from Italy.
I read your thread since more times.
This is my new chameleons trio (1.2) of F. Lateralis Major.

Male

Female 1

Female 2

3 day ago the female 2 deposed 24 eggs. I have a question, what is the temperatures of incubation? who have success with this species?
thanks for the patience but my english is very bad.

Welcome to the forum! Don't worry about your English...my Italian is much worse!

Nice trio of chameleons! I'm afraid I will have to let someone else answer the questions about incubation though...never hatched that species.

I would treat them the same as F. Lat lateralis eggs. A lot of success has been achieved at a constant 68f or 20c. I hatched out quite a few last year at the cooler temps. I did not use diapause for any of the clutches.

Quickest hatchling at that temp was 6 months 2 weeks to the day.

Good luck your chameleons are beautiful.

Very nice nicotrash, I prefer these ones to the lat. lateralis.

Good luck with your eggs, and it looks like female 1 is gravid aswell!

I incubated them between 68-72ºF (20-22ºC) when I kept this "subspecies". I started out on the lower end of that range (in my basement in upstate New York) and after a few months moved them upstairs to the higher end of that temperature range. I think they hatched in about 7 or 8 months if memory serves me.

I believe both Kent and Trace have also bred this "subspecies".

Benvenuto! Sono bellissimi. Truly very beautiful chameleons. Please keep posting photos of them, we don't see this species enough.
