Furcifer pardalis and their colors

Any updates on scientists bringing to light why Furcifer pardalis display the colors that they do?

Maybe Panther chameleons display bright colors so they have less predators?

Bright colors to some animals means they're toxic?

Not sure why I can't edit (using my phone) but here's another thought...

Maybe some animals remembered not to eat blue animals that are toxic to them, so chameleons on Nosy Be evolved to show more blue???

I can think of this stuff for hours lol

I know for a fact chameleons display their emotions through their colors. They also use it to help them regulate their heat absorption and attract mates/scare off rivals. I don't know if that was why it was originally developed in them.
