hello everyone, im chris. i havnt posted on here in a long time, since i lost my male veiled hatchling stix. i have decided after almost 3 yrs. to try chameleons again.i love the veileds. but before i get one i want to have a nice setup up and running first. now with my first chameleon it was an impulse buy(i know it was a bad choice) i didnt have a proper setup. he lived in a 20 gal.. high. now after learning from past mistakes im ready. i dont plan to get one for another month maybe 3. i have a mesh cage for a hatchling. its 25x13x15. im going to get the uvb and heat lamps next week. also i will get a few vines, some plants(real and artificial), some logs and a mister. next im going to get a waterfall,i may use coco fiber for substrate or paper towels, and something to put the food in. i will let the set up run for a few weeks to make sure its running good temps, humidity ect. and then i will add the chameleon. i will be posting pics it progress, so if any suggestions are needed they can be fixed before the cham arrives. thanks for reading, if you have any suggesting on things to add please let me know, i really appreciate it. i want it to go well this time around.

Forget fancy heat lights too...you can use a regular incandescent household light bulb of a wattage that gives the right temperature in the basking area....low 80's for a hatchling veiled.

Do you know about gutloading/feeding your insects a nutritious diet?
Do you know about supplements?
Also...the most often recommended UVB light is the long linear fluorescent tube light Repti-sun 5.0. The light from it should not pass through glass or plastic.

Any plants you use (real or artificial) should be well-washed (both sides of the leaves).

Awesome article. I am going to be adding a veiled into my collection soon. I came here to obtain information. Looking great so far. =D Im very excited!
