FYI pics receptive vs gravid

There have been questions regarding veileds being receptive and gravid, so I took some pictures. The first one is a normal female, the second is a receptive female and the third is a gravid female. I hope you find these pictures informative. My camera likes to mess with yellow, so you can't see too well how the receptive female has gold amongst her robins egg blue dots, whereas the gravid female has yellow markings.

Those photos are very informative - its a good idea to post these examples. With regard to the receptive and gravid photos - Lily didn't ever show the very dark green base colour when she was receptive or gravid. Do they only get such dark background colour if they have been mated and are carrying fertile eggs?

Veiled females get the robin's egg blue spots and stripes on their casque when they are receptive. That is the sign that is pretty standard. at 7 months she is pretty young to be receptive yet. I think it usually happens around 9 months.

My female never got any different in her stages little blue but that's it.

Brad's female is more typical of what I have seen. The females that show only blue make it harder to notice. Usually, mine only have the blue when receptive, and the orange/yellow only comes into play when mated/gravid/and non-receptive. It varies, though.

If unsure, show them a male, and you can tell. If she's ok with his existence, she's proably receptive.

My veiled female (around 6 months old) has just started showing some faint blue dots all over her body and light brown spots with a dark brown streak from her armpit down. i am going to wait for her to drop her first clutch before i breed her and am wondering about how long she will be until she drops her infertile eggs? thank you for your time

mine was dark green with the blue and yellow marking and laid 43 eggs yesterday Now to see if they are fertile!

Way awsome pics glad to see somethin like this up on the board as i love seein any pics of chameleons... but the beauteful ones like those three make it a lot better
