So my daughter has been wanting to get a tattoo forever and we told her not while she's living under our roof. We had some leverage before because you have to be 18 or over to get one without consent of your parent in Florida and we told her no! So she turned 18 on Aug 8th and came home with this! I am not happy about it. It is WAY too big and her father is literally gonna go bananas when he sees it. So I ask, would you kill your daughter.???

She's 18 now and has to pay for her own mistakes. You can't feel responsible for everything she does now. You have made mistakes before, so did your husband! So why should she never do any? :)

Compared to taking drugs, stealing and beating people up, this tatoo is not that bad! ;) The bottom line is no, i wouldn't kill her! :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I did TONS of mistakes before, and i still do fairly often! ;)

Don't freak out mom!;)
There was a day when sailors and bikers were the only ones with tatoos, but they are much more acceptable now. At least it can be covered for a job interview or something.
Look on the bright side...at least it's not a swastika between her eyes:eek::eek:

No she is a great kid! Just started college today for nursing. i can't complain. I just feel that tattoos are pretty permanent and maybe later she will be thinking I never should have done it! And yeah, a chameleon would have been better! lol!!!!

Oh and yeah my husband and I did PLENTY of mistakes in our day!!!! alot worse than a tattoo I guess!

Me and my friend turned 18 around the same time and we both went out and got a tattoo :p
My mom wanted to destroy me LMAO
but hey atleast she got it on her foot and not like on her arm or neck or some where crazy :)

Like someone mentioned already atleast she can cover it, even if she wears heels. Make up can take care of that if she has to wear heels.

But hey atleast she has pretty feet and not some cave man feet. I hate seeing tattoos on girls feet, and their feet are Ugly toes all messed up with corns. lol

I have known alot of people that start with one and a few months later they have 5 or 6... And then a few more, and more... That's why I haven't gotten any? I'm afraid I might want a second one and then a third and so on....

Out of my 20 closest friends (between age 20 and 25), i believe 70% of them have tatoos (i don't have any tatoo by the way), and easily 80% of them will regret it in the next 20 years or so! The good thing about tatoos is that you can get rid of them with laser now. And it's not like she had her face tatooed! :)

I just see this occasion for her to understand that it's important to really think twice (and third and four times) before doing something almost permanent. And you know that making mistakes is a great way to learn and become a better person! :)

I also see the fact that she isn't doing EVERYTHING you want as a good thing. In other words, she is learning to differenciate herself from her parents, and slowly becoming independant. I'm sure you don't want a 40 year old daughter still living at your house because she can't do things by herself! ;) Of course, she has to follow some of your rules as she is still living in your house, but the process of respecting your basic set of rules and being able to respect her own rules and goals is great. Obviously, everything has to be done while respecting the Law where you live, which has been done in this example! :)

All in all, i see very positive things and you can be proud of her! :)

Sounds like a good reason to start making her pay rent! If she is ready to be an adult and get a tattoo....she can pay rent

OMG! you guys are all killin me here too funny! She swears it will not be addicting (like chameleons) and always only wanted one! And yeah, her feet are kinda cute aren't they!!!???

foot tattoos are some of the most painful..she suffered enough hehe. Stomach is the worst hands down though.

LOL good dont

I started with the one on the back of my neck (not visible if hair is down;))
and now when I get my tax return money Im planning to get my self a couple other asian theme tats on my back :p

I came home the day before Mothers Day with my first tattoo, I was 18 then. And it was a half sleeve, which was soon to be completed and turned into a full sleeve. She wasnt so stoked....Then a year later (still living at home) I started my side piece, it stretches from my hip all up my ribs, under my chest and onto my back and ends right behind my shoulder...I hid that for about 4 months never taking my shirt off. Then she ran into me at the beach, I was spearfishing and had my wetsuit down...again...she wasnt to stoked, but at least that home I brought home a lobster dinner...So at that point shes told me no more. Then I got a small one on my collar bone, she woke me up one day and saw it, i told her it was a stick on. She believed me until, yet again, she ran into me at the beach which was a month after she first saw it. At that point she didnt say much...and finally a few months ago I dropped in (no longer living at home) with an enourmous chest piece that connects to my rib piece. THIS TIME, she said she thought the colors were pretty, but I still have to many. Thank god she hasnt seen the one on my upper thigh, she'd flip over that one for sure.

Point of the story, you'll get over it, theyre not that big of a deal. Hopefully your daughter thought this one through though, so she doesnt regret it in a year or so. Im no where near done. My other side gets started in January, then my entire thigh will be sleeved up. Theres a lot left to be done =]]] Dont be surprised if your daughter ends up with one or two more in the next few years. I always knew what I wanted, as far as my chest, ribs, and a sleeve. Its a well planned out piece of art, but I have ended up with a random one (the leg) which is turning into an awesome picture.

One of my last GF was asian and had an AWESOME Dragon tatoo on her whole back... That thing was AWESOME...

So this is what I got to look forward to then!? She swears this is it but It is very popular down here as I guess probably every where and girls have em just like the guys. Back in the day you rarely saw a woman with a tattoo.

I would kill her, lol but only because she got a tatoo of a gecko and not a chameleon

lol awsome reply. i wouldnt harm her, shes a basically a sub adult now lol. they go through this stuff. i got my first tattoo when i was 18, im almost 23 now and i have 8  like the other poster said, shes old enough to learn from her own mistakes. at least its not ugly or anything skull-ish like that. i think its cute and the fact that its on the foot and no where "skanky" if you will, makes it a whole lot acceptable. she can still be daddy's little girl lol
