I bought a veiled chameleon about a month ago. Im very facinated by this animal so I would like to keep him as long as possible. I have just a couple of questions because ive done my reading and take very good care of him. My first question is, he is normally a greyish brown color in his cage unless he is sleeping. If I take him out of the cage he will get a dark green. When I put him back in he goes right back to brown. Is this normal? (Juvenile)

It's not unusual for them to change color outside the cage. IMHO its like they have to be on guard for predators outside their home/cage.

Yes but im concerned about his color in the cage. He has been a green color when I first got him but when he went in the cage he is just brown

Can you post a picture of the enclosure (and him) just to be sure nothing is wrong with it? Also, they get darker colors when they are basking, to absorb more heat, so that might be what you are seeing
